Iain Wright

Iain grew up in Scotland and learned how to sail in fresh water lakes and rivers racing Laser dinghies and jumping on his uncles Wayfarer on the river Tay.
Opportunity to crew on a 34ft yacht came along and eventually crewing on a 70ft Ketch off the West Coast of Scotland. During one trip Iain sailed through the Gulf of Corryvreckan, a notoriously dangerous channel that features whirlpools even at slack tide.

University eventually called and the world of Computer Engineering took over.Iain never lost his love of the Ocean and became an Open Water Swimmer after moving to Australia, competing in Open Water Races such as the Rottnest Channel Swim, a 19.7km epic challenge! His adventurous side brought him to kite boarding and took him to the skies, Paragliding on the coast of South Australia and Western Australia.

Moving to Sydney Iain joined racing yachts and crewed for a Sydney to Hobart qualifying passage on a 50ft race yacht. Iain honed his skills and satisfied his curious mind constantly seeking out new knowledge by buying his own 34ft sailing yacht Warrina III and completing his RYA Yachtmaster.

Whenever possible he explores the NSW coast with his partner, herself an avid sailor.
With OSE he has skippered cruises around Fiji and sailed from Southport to Lord Howe and Hobart. “I always find personal growth and like watching the crew develop during a sailing trip. It is both humbling and exciting.”
